What is Whole Brain® Thinking?
A proven system to understand and transform your thinking. Whole Brain ® Thinking allows you to harness your teams’ thinking diversity for better results. It is the foundation for the highly validated Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument® (HBDI), which measures thinking preferences of individuals, teams, and organizations
The Whole Brain® model was developed by Ned Herrmann who was curious about the nature and source of learning and creativity. His research made it clear to him that the source of both creativity and learning is the brain. The Whole Brain® model is a metaphor that divides the brain into four quadrants: Analytical Thinking, Practical Thinking, Relational Thinking and Experimental Thinking.
The human body is made up largely of paired structures, most of which are not perfectly matched. Just as the paired structures exits outwardly, so too do they exist internally. One of the most important internal paired structures is the one that exists in the brain. These are comprised of two big hemispheres and the two halves of the limbic system, both of which are connected by powerful links that allow the four of them to function on a coordinated basis. Our preference to think in a particular way results from using certain parts of our brains more frequently (one hemisphere or one limbic half). Whole Brain Technology provides a basis for measuring these different preferences by determining the degree of dominance that has developed among the four structures of the brain.

What is HBDI®?
The Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument (HBDI®) is a 120-question online survey. It is a powerful psychometric assessment that defines and describes the way you think and process information. It gives you insight into why you value certain types of information over others. With that valuable knowledge about yourself, you can learn how to “flex” into other ways of thinking to adapt to others – how they think, what they value and how they communicate.
Individual Profile Report:
The HBDI® Profile provides an in-depth insight into your thinking preferences and reveals the impact of your thinking on your work. After completing the assessment, the person receives a comprehensive HBDI® Profile report that includes in-depth interpretation of the results, reference material about the Whole Brain® Model, comparison data, and activities for further exploration and development.
