Ubuntu in Technology: Co-creating the future of ITSM
To show this spirit of partnership in action, here’s a recent, deeply impactful collaboration that truly brought the 'I am because we are' philosophy to life.
How do you mobilize 180+ IT professionals to co-create a future where technology truly serves the human spirit?
For the third consecutive year, we are incredibly excited and privileged to have partnered with Michelle Slabbert, Head of IT Service Management at Standard Bank, to co-create a transformative 3-day conference.
This year, the experience centered around the powerful Ubuntu theme, “I am because we are.” Over 180 IT professionals from across South Africa and the continent came together to connect, collaborate and celebrate a shared purpose. The conversations spanned AI, innovation and the human side of Service Management, reminding us that technology only truly works when it serves people.
On Day 3, we used Open Space Technology (OST) to unlock the collective wisdom in the room. This large-group dialogue approach invited every participant to contribute their voice, insights, and ideas, resulting in meaningful shared actions for the future of Service Management.
“Ubuntu reminds us that progress is never a solo act. True transformation happens when we slow down to listen, see one another and co-create what matters. In that space, wisdom emerges and collective change becomes possible.”
A heartfelt thank you to Michelle and her incredible team for their vision, partnership, and unwavering commitment to the ITSM community. Here’s to another year of collaboration, connection, and the continued spirit of Ubuntu across Africa.
“Ubuntu speaks to the power of community, of shared purpose and of the deep connections that make us human. It’s about collaboration, respect, empathy and the recognition that our individual success is bound to the success of those around us. In many ways, this is the essence of IT Service Management. ITSM is not just about processes, SLAs and systems, it’s about people working together to deliver value, to solve problems and to empower others to do their best work.”
